Attacks are not limited to very small dogs. I have a Boston Terrier that is about 20lbs. She was attacked by an owl during the night. I have been informed that although there is no chance of a dog that size being lifted by the owl an inexperienced hunter will attack prey that is too big. This is especially true in the fall when the parent owls are breeding and no longer providing for the young owls. Our dog suffered major cuts to the shoulders that nearly went as deep as the thorasic cavity. It cost us a small fortune in surgery costs! I still believe that our dog is happier outside but we now pen her up at night.
