We have 2 Yorkies, one is about 3 pounds, (very small) the other is about 8 pounds, a little fat, one morning I let them out into the backyard as I usually do and I just happened to be watching them, they were busy chasing the squirrels out of the yard when I noticed a movement in the tree at the back of the yard, I soon realized this was not a squirrel but a large OWL, I ran out and the bird flew off before any damage was done, It just didn't cross my mind that OWLS or other birds of prey or even coyotes etc... would be a problem as I live in a subdevision in a suburban area. Needless to say, I do not let the dogs out anymore without being in there presence, obviously if you have a pet about the size of a Rabbit or rodent the owl sees it has potential prey. So keep a lookout for these predators or you could loose your pet very quickly. We were lucky this time.
