I am not totally sure that William was to be the Messiah. There are other biblical characters who saved their people--Moses is one. Of course I am forgetting the flight into Egypt that Mary and Joseph took to protect the Christ child so this could maybe be a spin on that story as well--Wyoming is desloate enough to hide in.

As for Scully--she could also be a Joan of Arc character. I don't know that CC looks just at one source for his writing and creative inspirations.

I like the fact that the Spender thread was answered--we never did see a body and I think that was a discussion way back then. Just as we have not seen a dead body of CSM.

Also, (NOT that I like CSM--grrr) but if he was indeed both Mulder and Spender's father, several thoughts/questions just happened to me.

1) Did CSM actually love Mulder more than Spender (the old Jacob and Esau thing) and live his double life so he could be close to both sons? If so, did he bring Cassandra with him? Why did he keep his sons apart only to raise Samantha as his own? Was she also his daughter?

2) Was Mulder an experiment using Tina (Teena or however it is spelled) as a surrogate mother--was she abducted too?

3) Did creepy CSM decide to save his son (Mulder) by having whatever sort of brain surgery that he had? Trying to play a martyr just doesn't fit. I think he used Mulder as an experiment and decided he wanted some of it for himself.


I enjoyed this episode but couldn't believe the ending at first. Now I want to see just what will happen with the remaining episodes. Never having been a Brady Bunch fan, I already am wondering why CC would waste all this opportunity to answer our questions with something that I hope won't end up being lamer than a three legged horse. (Sorry horse fans--I love them too. Just a figure of speech)
