this is getting a bit off-topic, because this is something they did NOT do on XF, but I hate it when they have these huge age differences between the leading man and and leading woman in romantic movies or TV shows!! Like the one with Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta-Jones a couple of years ago. . .(gone blank on the name; sorry)she was in her late 20s and he has to be close to 70!! He wasn't just old enough to be her father he was, quite literally, old enough to be her *grandfather*!! And, in CSI, they seem to be hinting at a bit of romance between Grissom (played by 49-year-old William Petersen) and Sarah (played by 31-year-old Jorja Fox).
In all honestly, I can't say this is "unrealistic", because you do see these sort of older men/younger women match-ups in real life, but I just think it's weird. I remember reading once that almost all the actresses who'd played Harrison Ford's leading ladies during the 80s are now considered "too old" to play the romantic lead in most movies; but, of course, *he* can still play the same sorts
of roles he was doing 20 years ago.
That's one nice thing about XF; if the movie franchise chugs along nicely, we'll see GA playing Scully on the big screen into her 40s and (hopefully!) even 50s!
