Hearing the urgency in Varda's voice, she carefully sets the plates on one of the tables then runs full-speed for the hearth, wondering what could possibly be wrong. She skids to a stop then notices the cracks in her flit egg and gives a startled gasp. She drops down on her knees and carefully picks up the shaking egg, watching in awe as the little creature makes its way into the world. A flash of sky-blue is seen beneath the creamy shell, and at last a head breaks through, small eyes whirling redly with hunger.

"A blue!" she cries, then as he creels to reinforce the matter that his stomach is empty, she quickly stands, cradling him carefully in her palms and speed-walks into the kitchen, eyes glued on him with facination. She manages to glance up long enough to open the store room door and fish out the bucket of scraps she'd seen there; as the hatchling catches the smell of the meat, she hardly has enough time to grab a chair in front of the large hearth and start feeding them to him, one small strip at a time so that he doesn't choke.
