Subject: Where should the city be build?

Where would you set this up?
I think New Zealand, it is so beautiful.
~Sadie,2/5/02

New Zealand would be AWESOME...but I think I would stay closer to home (in the U.S.). I'd find a big forested area, or a huge clearing surrounded by forest...can you imagine walking through a forest and suddenly coming upon a magical place that looks and feels alive?
~Leitola Jalafar,2/7/02

Allyou have to do is find some acreage somewhere and buy and it and built what you like.

OH my GOSH. Check out this land:

It would be SO SO perfect!!!!!!! I think I'm going to cry! LOL I'm looking around Ebay for ideas on where to build Elf Haven. Almost every land plot on there has pictures, so I can get a good idea of what different areas of the U.S. look like. Whatever is used, it has to be a WIDE area, and something fairly distant from human civilization. It doesn't have to be totally secluded, but it would be nice to have lots of privacy, don't you think? The land above is in South Dakota. I stumbled on that and thought man, that would be SO perfect.
~Leitola Jalafar,2/10/02

beautiful but it'd probably be alternating hot and cold, My grandparents have property here in California that looks a bit like that and it's always either really hot or freezing puus it's kinda more open than I'd want.I always thought that a foresty kind of place would be better, more mysterious ya'know? anyway I'd be willing to invest in something like that (Maybe with both forest and plainsland, wouldn't that appeal to everybody?)but it'd take me a few years to even put out a downpayment.
~Kiairy StarrStorm,2/11/02

I agree, a wooded area would be awesome! There's not a lot of that out there, at least not right now. Maybe by the time I've saved enough for a downpayment (next couple of years!), there will be some property available. I'll have to see who's still interested then!! I would like to be in a more moderate setting, where the temperature doesn't fluctuate so much; it'll just take some patience. Plus we could probably plant trees where there aren't any, so that's always a possibility. :)
~Leitola Jalafar,2/11/02

Personally i would love this place to possibly be in New Zealand (probably has something to do with the film!) because it is so beautiful there, and there would be little risk of being ambushed by people who just wanted to get a look, as there would if it was somewhere like the US. I agree about the forrested area-it would make it more private and mystical, almost as if the world outside didn't exist. I don't really mind what the climate would be like......waterfalls would be nice too!
~Lucy,2/11/02

This south dakota place... 80 acres.. only $200? do y'all realize how perfect that is? all of us could have the opppourtunity to create exactly what we want...(though i too would prefer a wooded area)
~C.S

I think New Zealand would be great but probably more expensive, traveling to and from and all. We could plant trees but they'd take forever to grow, altho our grandchildren could enjoy them. A waterfall would be beautiful, we could get rocks and build as many as we wanted and if we had a lake or pond like in the South Dakota Land we could divert the water and make streams and all.
~Kiairy StarrStorm,2/11/02

South Dakota would be blasting cold in winter....
~Fiahna,2/11/02

How do you know that the place will be secluded enough it would have to be well and safely hidden. There are many people who would disrupt you're land what would happen then?
~Allanon,2/12/02
As for privacy, there are privacy laws. If anyone unlawfully trespasses, we can rely on those laws to keep them off. It is, after all, personal property.
~Leitola Jalafar,2/13/02

I thought of something the other day; it may sound odd to y'all, but I don't know, I'm just an oddball I guess. :) Would you want running water, or have a land plot with a water source and collect water ourselves?
Also, if we collected our own water, we couldn't have running toilets; we'd have to have outhouses (which I can live with as long as their clean).
~Leitola Jalafar,2/16/02

Check out this land plot:

It is HUGE. Make sure to read the description too. I think this is the kind of land we need. :) Just something for future reference.
