the problem i have with oasis isnt the fact that they sound like the beatles. its mainly that i dont like the tunes!!!!if i liked the songs i wouldnt have a problem with them at the end of the day whether they are original or not.many bands that i listen to are not original at all for example my vitriol who borrow very much from my bloody valentine, the pumpkins, nirvana and sonic youth. but i fell madly in love with them a year ago mainly cause i thought the songs were amazing.
not many bands around today are infact anything new neway so if my main argument for disliking a band was whether they were original or not i would only be listening to a very small number of bands.
what really gets on my nerves about oasis though(and is why i brought up the whole ripping off the beatles thing on saturday) is the fact that they also seem to to base their image around them aswell along with liam cloning ian brown.i think he is a talentless hack and find his 'nihilistic sneer' incredibly torturous. noel i have more time for but still think he is extremely overated and should be playing the pub cicuit covering 'i am the resurrection' and 'i wanna be adored' instead of arenas.
i really feel strongly against bands who are blatently average and are overhyped. u say that its all about the tunes- the reason oasis are as big as they are is not because of the music but because of the rock star lives they lead and their subsequent portrayal by the media.a huge contradiction in my opinion.
ed( i am too tired to go on)
