Subject: Online Testing

Well, I have learned some things about online testing. First of all to test students over the Internet is unreliable due to the nature of the Internet. Although it has worked for some students, I have decided to place the tests on our own server. This means that students have to come into the testing lab as before to take the tests. We have several computers student's can use to take the tests.

There are several advantages to testing this way.
(1) The tests are timed, I have it set for 50 minutes.
(2) students get immediate feedback. They know what there score is as soon as they are finished, they know which questions they missed, and they are given an explanation of the correct answer.
(3) I can import the grades into my grade book either from my office or from at home.
(4) The grades can be uploaded to the Internet according to the students password.
(5) I have a copy on our server of the tests each student takes with his/her answers.
(6) I can generate a multitude of analysis of results, such as class average, mean, median scores, and how well each student has done relative to the other students who took the test.
(7) I can easily offer as many versions of the same test as I want to. I can even make sure that two friends, or a married couple, do not get the same version.

If anyone has any experiences with online testing, I am anxious to hear.
