John, I think we are referring to the same 6-inch coil. It is a circular DD and was made by Minelab for Australia. However, I am using it in 32kHz on my 17000. But as far as I know it is okay to use in the other frequencies and other XT and the Eureka Gold.

I just got a 15 inch DD WOT Coiltek for my 17000 from a dealer in Sun City AZ. Coiltek suggests using it in 20 or less kHz. However, I have not had a chance to try it out.

As you know the same coils are interchangeable for the 17000, 18000, and Eureka Gold. Probably, moving up from the 17000 to the Eureka Gold a big step. I have used an 18000 briefly and find it smoother than the 17000.

I well remember both the GT and FT-16000. I also had both the Mark-2, a manual ground balance in a yellow box and the Eureka Dual Ace in a green box.

A six-inch circular DD was available for the Eureka Dual Ace. However, it will not boot up to the later XT's as the pins are different.

The 2100 a good machine. I think the "key" is knowing how to set each channel. Also, to use a Coiltex coil. I briefly used a Soverign when they first came out, but I had more success with a White's Eagle-2.
