You really don’t understand business, do you ? Discounters scoop the cream off the top, and when business is good they make money,(some). When sales slow down, there’s not enough profit in the sales their making to keep their head above water. Some last threw the problem because they may have a little cash back up. In time, if the poor sales continue, they bite the big wazzo.

Perhaps you better take a look around. It’s not the big discounter’s that made this country, just the contrary, they hurt us as much as they think they helped. Just look at what’s happened to Sears, K-Mart, and Wal-Mart around the country. It’s the same for the individual mom/pop operation, and the discounter’s of metal detectors. There is "No" discounter that can give you the service of a good retail dealer.

Have you any idea the number of detectors one has to sell by discounting 20% off a retail item that cost them 35% of the retail price ? Give me a break !

No, I am not a retailer of anything, and yes I look for a deal also. It’s just human nature. But you asked Why a discounter went out of business, and generally it’s because their not making any money. In Al’s case, after loosing his bigest selling product, that’s all it took.
