Good points, Ralph. We will indeed have to have to see if all the "traditional" features of a prospecting detector are truly usurped by the new technology of the MXT and X-5. If so, this will revolutionize electronic propecting, and render obsolete all other types of propspecting machines. If, however, these two new machines do not perform as well as current-technology top-end prospecting machines, then we will have to continue to "make do" with the traditional "gold machine" technology. That being the case, then such things as operating frequency, ground rejection capabilities, SAT speed, etc., will still be of paramount importance to overall detector performance. Hopefully I can spend some time later today to see if the X-5's "half brother" can out-perform itself as a gold machine in the discriminate mode or the traditional prospecting mode. Will keep you posted. HH Jim
