Hi Ralph,

Good idea. I used to be a surveyor. We used a handy little dip-needle box back in the old days.

What got me excited was the new Fisher unit, the FP-10. Only three pounds, and no tuning. Just push on and go. And no motion putt-putt/VCO target location. And cheap for a mag, but not cheap for a iron id tool, unless you own an SD/GP!

Check it out at Fisher FP-10

I'm going to try it out this summer and will report back. It could also work well in conjunction with a Gemini 3, TM808, or other deep-seeking units. John Hodan sent me a couple little meteorites to try with the unit also. It picks them up, but I have not had time to do a "bury and compare" test against regular detectors yet.
