When I started nugget detecting, I hunted all over my local area's and found lots of trash but no gold. So what to do? I traveled to the El Paso's in California, everyone found gold but me. I traveled to Rye Patch, everyone found gold but me. I hunted all the areas in Idaho I could reach on a weekend, no gold. Took a year and a half to find that first nugget and about 600 pounds of trash, what felt like hundreds of hours swinging the detector. I hate to admit it but that trip every one made from the old site to Golor Gulch I found gold I think? I was deteting across one of the finger ridge's on the ADK when I got a good signal. It was in some slate rock, after getting the target in my cup. I was sorting it out when I noticed a little bitty dingy looking yellow piece, so I picked it out and as I reached over to check it on the coil I dropped it. Right down between a couple of rocks. This didn't bother me to much becouse as every one knows gold is shiny, not dingy yellow. So I guess the amount of time from then to my first keeper was punishment for not knowing what I was looking for in the first place. Clint/Idaho
