Subject: I Hear You Knockin'

Scanning out of an open book is not the easiest thing to do. But I thought Brother Herb and Ron would get a kick out of this. Last Valentine's Day, I bought the Lion a book titled "I Hear You Knockin' The Sound of New Orleans Rhythm and Blues," not realizing on page 289 I would find a photo of him with Bobby Mitchell. "Try Rock and Roll" turned out to be Bobby Mitchell's only nationally-charted record, as it spent two weeks in Billboard's R&B charts in March of 1956, rising to #14. He even got a stint on American Bandstand with "I'm Gonna Be a Wheel." By the time this photo was taken, he was on the downhill side of his brief success and today he works in the pathology department at LSU Med School. One of the names Laf used in his radio days was Bobby Reno. This pic was taken sometime in the mid 1960's, which would put him in his early 20's.
