Subject: First ride on Destiny's Chance

I unloaded Chance from the trailer and gave him a reassuring pat. He snorted, noticing the busyness of the track. Jenny walked by with Limitless Time on a lead line. She waved and Limitless Time took that as an oppurtunity to trot. I waved back and walked in to the barn. Thoroughbreds pranced around, EVERYWHERE! Chance stood realtively calmly while I tacked him up. I put on my helmet and led the fiery colt out of the barn. I put my foot in a stirrup and swung on while he walked foward. Once we were on the track, I asked Chance to trot. He bounced foward with big springy strides. I squeezed and he rushed foward in a huge canter. We went half way around the track at canter before I let him out in a hand gallop. He pulled at the reins, trying to explode foward. I held tight though, and made him move smoothly the rest of the way around the track. I asked him to walk and moved into the starting gate. I had tryed this before, just loading him in and out of the gates, and he wasn't too nervous now. Then the gates flew open, and Chance blasted foward, eating up the track. I gave rein and he threw more effort into his breeze. After four furlongs of breezing him, I knew that he had the endurance I had hoped for. No one had to tell me that Chance had gotten an extraordinary time. I just knew. I untacked him and loaded him into the trailer. I looked back at my racehorse, before driving home.
