Hmm... as a scientist, and a writer of articles on magical theory, I find this intriguing. My colleague Glapoes, in his article, avoided the issue of the source of priestly powers... and until now I had made no further progress then he did in supposing. However, your appearance, as a goddless priest, yet still wielding powers, invalidates many prominent theories... However, for this proposition, I shall opperate on the assumption that there is not.
#1. The priestly powers are not a fraction of the deity's powers, as previously supposed. They are the priests own energy, a new form of magic, that can only be learned through the aid of a diety.
#2. This opperates on the assumption that man created the gods by believing in them. By believing in the Ego as a diety, you have created one. As your strength and security in your faith grows, as does it, and it is able to grant you more abilities. So, in a sense, you DO worship a god- one of your own creation.
#3. You worship an old god- but one never named. Many people have had similar beliefs to you in the past- they just haven't called it worship. Their belief created a god... and he has chosen you as a vessel to bring his faith into the open.
#4. Another god, possibly seeking to undermine Falco, has granted you powers but let you continue your beliefs- he cares not what you believe, as long as you convert away from the Falcons
