Just a bit more on this:

We have been told that open office space for Veterans Service Organization rep's is available at the Wade Park and Brecksville VA's. Because processing disability claims is not one of the "jobs" of our organization, in order to convince the VA to give us a desk, lightbulb and telephone number -- we need to prove that our "special interest" focus will benefit a large number of veterans in the area.

We had a bit of a false start in June. Unfortunately, at the Pride Fest -- our "banner guy" from Columbus got sick and went home to Columbus WITH the banner before the fest even started (yes, we were the mystery booth on the waterfront), then one of our helpers mistakenly told people the email-list signup sheet was a petition to end DADT, and had everyone willing to take a minute signing it - for nearly 30 minutes. This left us unable to make heads or tails of who honestly wanted email contact from us, and who was simply lending their name to the cause.

You say you're not a veteran? You are still more than welcome to be our ally. If you are a friend of any LGBT veterans who might be willing to be affiliated with us, even if they don't have the time to devote to sprouting a brand new group (we don't mandate who has to contribute time to what), please forward our contact info and ask them to contact us. Having real live local names to back up the somewhat etheric Census reports may help us greatly in our goal of establishing a local office within the VA facilities. Having a central office where vets can access a real live person for any LGBT related problems they might encounter is one of our tops priorities.
