Subject: Dream Act Action

Hey guys,
here is some important info re. the Dream Act we need to take action on:

August 5, 2002

Dear MECHA de Mt. SAC,

We at CHIRLA, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, are
currently working to ensure that congress passes the student adjustment act H.R.
1918. This bill will make higher education accessible for immigrant youth, a
deserving right of which they are currently denied. This month of August
Congress will be taking a recess and CHIRLA wants to take advantage of this time
to meet with area representatives to discuss the Student Adjustment Act. As an
organization based out of Los Angeles, it is difficult for CHIRLA to grab the
attention of congress members outside of our district. For this reason, we
would like to ask you for your help in joining us to meet with representative
David Dreier, who serves constituents in your area. We are also hoping to get
community members from your area and students who would benefit from the Student
Adjustment Act so that representative Dreier will feel pressured to support the
bill.

Feel free to contact me via email if you would like more information regarding
the Student Adjustment Act or if you have any questions concerning your role in
the meeting. Also, you may contact Angelica Salas, Executive Director at CHIRLA
at (213)353-1333. I look forward to hearing from you and I sincerely thank you
for your time.

Guillermo Urias
