Subject: Our thoughts are with you

Friends and classmates,

For the last two days I've been in shock watching the reports on the horrific damage Hurricane Charley inflicted on Punta Gorda and the rest of Charlotte County. I can only imagine what you must be going through. I hope that you and your families are safe and your physical losses have been minimal.
I've always like to tell people how a group of us went from first grade all the way through graduation together. That was one of the best parts about growing up in a small towen and it always gave me a good feeling. I've been fortunate te see a many of you over the years at reunions, football games and during my all too infrequent trips back home. I know from these experiences how much our home town means to all of you and how proud, as I have been, of its' development over the years. I've also learned over the years that a town is built around the people who live there, not just the physical structures. So even though the town may be shattered, you guys are still there and I know you, and the town, will persevere and make it all the way back.
I know that I can never know what you're going through right now or what you will experience in the days and weeks ahead. I do want you to know that the thoughts of my wife and I are with you, your families, and the entire community. May God bless you all.
