Thank you guys for all your words. It means so much! I am a graduate of Charlotte High class of "98. I'm just still a youngin I guess you could say. My parents both graduated in 1971 from Charlotte High as well. In the aftermath of the storm the schools 3-story building did not fair as well as everyone had hoped. The newspaper has not published any pictures of it, but from the front you can tell that the roof has been ripped off. Apparently the bricks in the back are beginning to crumble as well. They had governor Bush out there a few days ago to survey the damage and you can tell what his thoughts are, to just tear it down and build it to the new building codes. They think it may be too much trouble to fix. I hope not, I have two more sisters, one of whom only had a chance to walk the halls for a week, and the other is going to heading in to high school next year. The two were actually excited about going to the school and graduating from the same place we all have. They begin school again on the 30th at Port Charlotte High and middle school since both of our punta gorda schools are not in the best of shape at this time. I hope that our historical preservation society will be able to save what is left of the "original" high school here, if they can, this will make it the 3rd major hurricane it has survived. With that I will leave you with this...

The weight room and press box along the football field were destroyed along with the bleachers, but out on the fence alongside the field in true blue and gold fashion was "PRIDE", the only piece left of the banner saying "TARPON PRIDE". Only proving, this storm can take our homes, our businesses, but it will NEVER take our pride away! We will rebuild this town and for the woman asking about her old house, I will drive by tomorrow and check for you! Thank you guys for all of your kind words. It means so much right now.
