Subject: Zone variances
In reply to: calm 's message, "Re: devisive?" on 10:50:46 07/05/02 Fri

Ah, another topic. Zone variances shouldn't exist, and if they do, those using zone variances should emphatically not be assigned to a "coveted track", such as track 5. The only exception to this rule should be a teacher's child, who should get the track assignment they pick. Zone variances in a school that is overcrowded MAKES NO SENSE. Parents should be upset about this also. But according to you, here we are, whining again.

Why should it be up to the parents to bring up this issue? School administration should not allow it. Do you believe they don't know that allowing zone variances INCREASES our student population, thereby putting your children (or someone else's) in a portable or larger class sizes? Or that student numbers affected music class not being in the music room this year, or the P.E. room not being big enough to accommodate all the children necessary, or not having enough books in the library because the school is overcrowded?
