Re: Best time to Berjaya Redang Beach -- paul, Thu, Jun 03 2004, 19:05:32
Went Feb 2004 .. had a great time snorkling and was lucky with the weather. A few showers but sunny mainly.
Beware that the sea near the resort bay is leathal at that time and the red flags are there for a reason.
However, the other side of the island where the marine park is completely calm and nice.

Re: Best time to Berjaya Redang Beach -- Jeremy, Fri, Jun 04 2004, 16:19:46
Lets get things straight:
I have been to Redang 3 x.Also I have found that no one can predict the weather 9 months in advance.
As I said I was new to the forum; in writing a response. But I have read through (all) the forum, finding all the answers.
Mr.Paul was definitly lucky to have such wonderful weather at that time of the month.
Now what happens if your holiday is a washaway which would normally be the case at that time of the year?? Mr. Paul would feel guilty, if it was his fault that it rained.
You didn't get to many responses to your mail.
If the Hotel is open , why do you ask if it's Ok to go to Redang???
I don't know how old you are but I was told if you ask a silly question you get a silly answer.
I suggest you read the forum and Redang.org again and I assure you there will be more than one answer to all your questions from people who have been to Redang more than once.
So far I have enjoyed this forum for all the valuable info regarding Redang.
LETS keep it that way in the future.

One last thing I forget to mention:
I no how you want to make your Honeymoon an everlasting memory. IMHO no one can guarantee you nice weather anywhere in the world, but if you want to stay on the safe side, try the Maldives in February, which should be the dry season.
I also wish you and your husband a long and wonderful marriage with lots of kids.

oh dear...somebody here needs a channel to vent frustration huh?? With so little to contribute. Then again, can't say that I have anything really useful (!) But at least I try not to put others down with such harsh comments.

OK, ok, cool down guys and gals.
Let's stick to useful sharing of info on this forum, please. So no more rebuttals or venting of frustrations.
Getting back to Mei's original question, most resorts remain closed in Feb for a good reason since there may still be rough seas and rain. The rains probably don't matter as much as the rough seas, since it's risky for boats to go out when waves are big. Berjaya is the only resort that opens throughout monsoon simply because the bay at Teluk Dalam Kecil where it is located is fairly sheltered and calm even during monsoon storms.
As with anything related to weather, no one can predict so far in advance whether the dates you plan to go will be stormy or calm. So if you decide to take the chance, then count it a bonus if you have sunny days and calm seas, but even if you don't, be content that you are on a beautiful island (you can still appreciate the beauty of Redang when it rains) with your beloved. Focus on enjoying the time spent with your new spouse since that's what a honeymoon is all about. After all, you are going to promise to love and cherish one another for better or for worse, in health and sickness, through monsoon storms or sunny days... :)
Alex.
