Subject: Just Back From Redang Holiday

It was 6 glorious days! Crystal clear water, white beach, powder fine sand. Ahhhh... I wanna go back! Hubby & I stayed at Redang Holiday Beach Villa. Lovely resort. It's located at one end of the beach with a quiet, clean and rather exclusive beach front that stretches in front of it. The dining area is perched atop rocks that are just by the sea. So, breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner, we just looked out to the sea and tucked into ok food. In fact, all we did on the first day was sat by the bar counter which is next to the sea and admired the view. Absolutely magnificent! We did our NAUI Scuba Diver course at the resort as well. I was truly nervous, but it was great fun. We saw big sting rays, a small blue spotted one too. Razor fish. A batfish followed me around. Turtle (hubby saw that). A group that dived on Tue afternoon even saw whale sharks! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Wld definitely go back to Redang Holiday and do our Advanced Scuba Diver course there.

hi vin,

thanks for your review. its has been really informative for me. i would be going to redang next week and would like to stay in redang holiday. there's something i am really worried about. are you from singapore and did you book the stay direct thru the resort? coz i have problems on the day of checkout. i would be going back to singapore by bus and it won't depart till 8.30pm. but checkout will be in the morning so does it mean i have to carry my luggage around for the whole day? or do they have special arrangement? did you face the same problems?

Hi, We are from Singapore. Hubby & I drove there. Got great help from Tangotee who also drove there. We booked directly with the resort. I emailed them. They replied promptly with the quote and was very helpful. You may want to phone them.

We wanted to log in one more dive on the morning of our departure, so we arranged for a late check-out the day before. We left the island at abt 2.30pm. The folks the day before arranged to leave at abt 4pm. So, I believe it's possible for a late check-out. You just need to arrange this with the resort, but the tide may determine how late you can check out. There's a late check-out charge, but it's ok. Also, when you arrive at the Merang jetty, you can buy t-shirts for abt RM8 or RM10. So, you can shop before you head off to KT for your bus home.

It'd be fun! Enjoy!

[> Sure did - tragic - details? -- tangotee, Tue, Sep 24 2002, 13:03:42

Boy! News sure travel fast - I don't read the papers no more these days. Heard she was 30 years old or so. Tragic. When on vacation, we should always be prepared and "safety first" should be on everyone's mind even in the clam waters of Redang. Diving huh? I have to search for the webnews now... embolism or what did her in? :(

Hi Vin .. It's Winda and Rizal. Remember us ? We travelled back to Merang Jetty with you and your hubby on the check out day !! Wanted to e-mail soon but got caught up in piles of papers, my boss left me.

3D and 2N is really something at Redang Holiday. Hubby and I promised to come back next year.

It's true that at Redang Holiday, you can actually snorkel at the door step and we had a great holiday.

The weather was so beautiful and the people there are so fantastic ; the resort operator and the guests as well.

Photos taken underwater was developed and turned out fine.

My instinct to proceed with Redang Holiday was not a mistake and I must say that, next year hubby and I will definetely stay at the same villa.

Thanks to the information I gathered from this forum.

Nice knowing you all ....

Those going to Pulau Redang, do have lotsa fun ...

Take care

Winda Ibrahim

[> [> Wasn't Diving Accident at Pulau Aur? -- Vin, Wed, Sep 25 2002, 9:32:31

Hi folks, Sorry. Haven't read abt any accident at Redang. I believe a 30-year-old man died while diving on 15 Sept (sat) at Pulau Aur. This was reported in The Straits Times on 17 Sept. Was there another recent diving accident?

It was at Redang. Reported in yesterday's and today's Straits Times. Truly tragic. Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Ms Heng Siok Hoon.
