What's up? Did anybody read "THE COLDEST WINTER EVER" by Sistah Souljah? Its a crazy hood book but its well written and you wont want to put it down. I read it twice and Will Smith copped the rights for to convert the book into a movie...might wanna read the book FIRST...!

Yeah, I read that book. We read it over Winter Session for the book club as a matter of fact. It was definitely one of the most interesting novels I ever read. That joint grabs you from the door. From the beginning she was like...I came busting out of my mommas pussy on such and such a date...or something like that...I forget...but I do love that book. I didn't know about the movie coming out though. Thats definitely gonna be a must see. They better not mess it up.

I read both of her books more than once: The Coldest Winter right after it came out in '98 ( I believe it was '98 but I'm not positive), and No Disrespect immediately after I finished reading the other. She is an excellent writer and speaker and I feel that we need to get her on this campus for a lecture.

Yeah, she came to speak here last year. She was great! One of the top lecturers I've ever heard here (behind Dick Gregory and the Black Panther). I'd come back to here her for real!
