I don't think people being more accepting of gay will change the amount of people making closets because it's a genuine reflection of who they are.

Whomever they partner and however much they love them, there really does not seem to be any sort of way it can work. They want the 100% love of a straight but can't return it. And then when they do form a relationship with a full on lesbian or gay man, it's the same thing. Whomever they partner has the emotional pain of not having their love met in that passionate way that matters so much.

It's who they are, they can't help themselves but want the impossible. That's a tough gig.
