(He could swear he could hear her thinking.. she had always had such an active mind and he could always find entertainment in watching her as she did whatever it was she was doing.. her eyes would get sort of glossy and he could whisper her name and she wouldn't hear him.. just so many thoughts. It was what made her good at what she did, and he recognized things like that.. the same as he noticed what she liked in her coffee - two sugars and one creamer - or what she liked when they were in bed together. He was a lot more astute about things than people dared believe him to be. He was taken aback by her question, but as was his typical manner he didn't let it show, just answered her as if it were normal to discuss his poor sleeping habits with his ex-wife while sitting on the porch of his bubble headed lover.) Every time I do, I dream of you. (He said quietly, in an honest tone, too straightlaced to be said in annoyance.. he accepted that he dreamt of her, possibly as a sort of punishment for sins committed.. but it was easier to remain awake then to subject himself to it.. it just meant waking up with a hard on and no way to relieve the gaping pain in his chest.) How've you been?
