All freshmen halls can help people be more comfortable talking with one another, and sometimes upperclassmen can be unapproachable and condescending. But if the classes aren't mixed, it makes it harder for freshmen to approach upperclassmen and ask for help with school, or anything else. Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I'd say mix the classes. If a freshmen sees a successful upperclassman, they might be motivated to be successful too.
