As Long as You Know
Chapter 7
The day has finally come, the Homecoming dance, the girls woke up early to go get manicures, pedicures, hair, facials, and eyebrow and lip waxings. They are going all out. The guys slept till about noon, played ball till about 3 and ended up rushing to get ready to go get the girls. The guys are all getting ready at Rell's house, Omari's mom is braiding his hair, and Omari has cheered up by now, he knows he's gonna get Christen back, but even if he doesn't he is determined to have a good time,
"I am a man, that's going to a dance!" Mario said singing a song he made up, while taking the paper out of his new shoes
"We gon get our groove on tonight, we gon be like you know, you know," Omari says doing a lil dance in the chair, while his momma is doing his hair
"Yea, I can't wait to see how the girls look," Dreux said while holding the towel that Mario was changing behind, "I'm about to move this towel"
"Oh!" Mario says jumping and pulling his pants up
Rell is done ironing his shirt and is in the mirror, beatboxing, while Mario is trying on his black hat
While Rell is beatboxing, Mario is singing a song
"Michael Jackson, Michael Jackson!" Mario says, acting a fool
"I think it's gon be a lot of fun, I mean our dates are gon be looking good," Dreux said
"They got energy too," Rell said, picking up his shirt "Uhh, you made my shirt wrinkled," he said to Mario
"No, I didn't!" Mario said buttoning up his shirt, and taking the iron and pressing it against the shirt
"Thank you, momma," Omari said, while she was smoothing and gel-ing his baby hair down
"You're welcome, now go get ready," she said
They boys were finally ready then they went to go pick up Timmy and Keonte, they kissed their moms goodbye and went walking out the house with them cane-stick things trying to be pimpish.
The girls are at their houses getting ready (their own houses, not Christen's)
Christen stood in the middle of her closet in a bathrobe still trying to decide whether she should wear the red dress or the blue one, after 30 minutes of contemplating she decided on red, she put on the dress which was a halter dress with silver sequins and rhinestones on it, it was an hourglass dress that fit her figure great, it had a long train on it, but the train detached, so that it wouldn't get caught while she was dancing. She painted her toenails red, and the tips of her nails were red. Her mom had done her hair and the rest of her friend's hair, Christens hair was in twists that went up into a braided ponytail that was fingerolled into a bun. She looked cute, she put on her make up and jewelry, and sat down on the bed, making sure not to get dirty and called Dayah…
Dayah was getting ready for her big night. She put on her turquoise-green dress, and put in her green contacts to match, her dress was a tight spaghetti strap dress, with the straps decked out in rhinestones, Her mom has styled her hair in a cute Halle Berry Flip like in Swordfish and Christen had helped her dye a pair of white shoes the perfect color turquoise. She had to admit that she looked good. She hung up from Christen and called Candice
Candice was getting ready in her light blue dress it was flared since her momma made her put on that petticoat, it was strapless, because she had the boobs for that, it had blueish glitter on it, and blue buttons down the back, she put on her shoes and put some more hairspray in her hair, that Christen's mom had frenchbraided upwards in the back leading to a head full of curls. She put on her make up and the bracelet, her dad had bought her and sat down on the bed and called Tracy…
Tracy still wasn't ready; she had just now got a date. But she ran and put on her gold one shoulder strap dress, which brought out her light brown eyes, and the golden hues in her hair which, was cornrowed into a natural ponytail. She put on her shoes and waltzed around in her room, and put on her make up and decided to call Glory
Glory was putting on her pink dress it was one of those dresses with the tube top and matching skirt. She put on her make up and the new belly ring that Mario bought her. She put some more gel in her hair that was swept up into a french roll with two pieces hanging like (Ashanti in the Foolish video), She put on her pink shoes and stuffed her purse with the necessities and then sat down and called Jhene
Jhene had fell asleep and was awakened by the call she only had a half an hour to get ready she rolled out of the bed, she pulled out the black dress out of her closet and slipped it on, Timmy picked it out, it was sheer, with a silver hologram design at the top, it had small black spaghetti straps and two slits on the side, she put on her make up and sprayed her hair which was styled like that girl in Dave Hollister's new video, big twists across the front pulled up into a feathered ponytail.
Dreux, Jarell, Omari, and Mario got in the limo, picked up Timmy, then Keonte. Then they drove to Candice's house. Dreux and Candice took pictures at her house, then they got in the limo. Next, they went to get Dayah. Jarell and Dayah took pictures there. They got in the limo and went to get Glory, Mario and Glory took pictures. Next, it was Jhene, then Tracy, who at the last minute decided to go with Keonte. Last, but certainly not least, was Christen. Omari, nervous as could be, walked to the door and rang the doorbell.
"What up, Omari," Chris said as he invited him in
"Hey, Chris, whas happenin?" Omari said, making conversation
"Nothing, just maxin' and relaxin', lemme go get your girl," Chris said running upstairs
Just then, Brenda and Darryl, walked around the corner
"Hi, you must be Omari, I'm Brenda and this is my husband Darryl, and you met Chris," her mom said
"Hi, it's nice to meet you," he said kissing Brenda's hand and shaking Darryl's
"Let me take a couple pictures," she said snapping solo photos of O
"Christen, hurry up, don't keep the boy waiting," Darryl said as he grabbed O, "That is my babygirl, the middle child, my princess, hurt her and I'll hurt you, you heard me?" he said while squeezing O's hand
"Yes, sir," O said stuttering
"Aight, ma, here I come," Christen said coming down the steps, in her red dress
Omari POV
Christen was beautiful ever since the first day I met her, but today she looked so… I can't even describe it. I tried not to show how stunned I was, but my mouth could help but drop.
Christen POV
Omari looks so good in a tux, he looks like a lil' guy on top of the wedding cake. For some reason, I am actually ready to go to the dance, but why is he looking at me like that.
Christen stopped at the bottom of the steps, as Omari got down on one knee as if to propose and pulled out a beautiful red corsage, he placed it on her wrist.
"You remembered," she said, the corsage matched her dress perfectly
"Important things never leave me," he whispered in her ear, "oh, these are for you," he gave her the dozen red roses
"Oh, thank you, and this is for you," she said as she pulled out a red corsage and pinned it on him
"Thank you," he said as he turned and Brenda started taking pictures, she must've used two rolls of film.
"Ma, they wanna get there before the dance is over," Chris said rescuing them
"Oh, ok I'll let you go," she said kissing Christen and Omari on the cheek, Christen ran to her dad and kissed him, and then to Chris and kissed him
"Go get that crown, Queen Bee," Chris said
"Be home by 3, Queen Bee," Darryl said
"3?" Christen whined
"Anything that requires you to be out later than that, you don't need to be doing." Brenda said
"Ok, bye y'all, love you." Christen said as she grabbed Omari's hand and led him out the door and to the limo, "Sorry about them, O., I'm the middle child," she said as the chauffeur opened the door for her and they slipped inside the limo.
They had reservations at one of the best restaurants in town, the Petroleum Club, it is a like 50-story building and the view is so beautiful and it's very expensive, but hey the girls are worth it. They eat and then drive to the dance, laughing and singing in the limo…
"Everybody sing it now, everybody sing it now, wahooo!" Jarell said
"Don't this hit make my people wanna," Dreux said
"JUMP, JUMP," everybody else answered, they arrived at the Convention Center, and went to the ballroom where the dance was being held, but everybody stopped to vote for Christen for homecoming queen they all walk inside in this formation - Keonte and Tracy, Mario and Glory, Timmy and Jhene, Dreux and Candice, Jarell and Dayah, and Omari and Christen. By now, Omari and Christen are having a good time with each other like they used to and are walking fingers laced into the dance, Christen has forgotten about the entire Danele incident and is ready to have a good night, and Omari is ready to apologize and get his girl back.
