Greetings, brothers!
A comment and a question. There's something about the Northwest... I don't know what it is... I've seen enough downright creepy and weird stuff that it never ceases to amaze me. I can't even begin to describe some of the lights and movement I've seen in the sky in some places, Vashon Island in Puget Sound for one, which rates as a highly weird place in anyone's book, and was a very special place for the native tribes that used to own it (there is still a substantial native population there). South-central WA state is definitely a land of high weirdness, and I'd like to explore it a great deal more (JAK, your articles on the mounds and caverns of that region are fantastic!).
The meat of my post. I have been following the LaGriffe knives for some time but have yet to handle one. They're just fascinating and appear sound. These days, Emerson makes a commerical LaGriffe that may be the perfect little covert tool. The Claw, indeed. My friend-in-arms Don Rearic, whom I have corresponded with a fair bit, loves it.
However, the larger LaGriffes that Perrin makes by hand are particularly interesting to me, though not to the exclusion of the tiny Emerson-made variant (in fact, I will most likely be purchasing three-- one Emerson, one Perrin, and one trainer from Perrin in G-10). It's just the thought of a heftier blade (the Large LaGriffes with 3-4" blades look awesome and appear to handle like a much smaller, faster knife) is reasurring. I'd like to go for a wrapped grip for compactness and sureness in grip retention (though the hole for the index finger is the anchor).
Any thoughts? I do like the black coating of the Emerson, which would enable the LaGriffe to blend into the shadows more effectively, plus that hookbill. Has anyone here played with them?
Regards,
Kyle
