Subject: Old school Dura spark box blues!

I just helped my freind swap a carb'ed 5.oh in to his 86 T-Bird.Ever thing went great! Untill a few days ago!It ran great for one week. Now its smoking dura spark boxs!I used a rebuilt dura spark dist. and a new dura spark box w/the EFI coil. The wires are really eays to hook up, as there color coded.I hooked up orange / purple to box, green to
trigger - coil, red to key power. It ran fine for a week, what would cause this! It will run for about 5 min, then the box starts smoking and the car shuts down,Time for another $20.00 dura spark box!I know that the box should only get 6 volts, but I've hooked these things up like this before and the never had a problem..I was thinking that may be the factory EFI coil has some thing to do with it...May be?
