Subject: Resolution requiring...english only Anthem in the works
In reply to: Jean 's message, "good points" on 08:04:31 05/08/06 Mon

"Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) introduced a resolution requiring the Star-Spangled banner to be sung only in English"

So it begins.......

Wonder what will happen to those who dont obey this "resolution"?

Like I asked before....Do we really want to go there. If we react with such a knee jerk reaction...what is next?
If we do this and approve of this and allow this to happen what could be next.

With freedom of speach we will always run the risk of someone saying or singing something we find very offensive.
But with our freedom of speach...in protecting their right to say or sing what they want then we are protecting our own rights.
I always beleaved that freedom of speach was one of the things that made us truely free.

There are many who want to make it against the law to protest the war...I mean according to our President if you protest the war publicly you are helping the enemy.
Should there be a resolution condeming war protesting?
Where would this all end?

Like it or not.
No matter what version someone puts the National Anthem(or any song, or story)to...they have the right to free speach...even if you find it offensive.

I cant be a part of anything that will futher the compleat distruction of the Constitution...I know its almost done with...buy why be a part of it?

Blessings
Jean
