First, THANK YOU for giving this little one a home. Can you tell em where you are located so we can look into the other dogs (I also volunteer for Chi Rescue).

As for him being frightened at teh shelter, do not gauge his personality on this, the vast majority of Cresteds are petrified in shelters and exhibit completely different behaviors/personalities while there. So many of your questions there are no definitive answers to as each dog is different. So much depends on the care/treatment/socialization they had prior to making their way into rescue.

As for marking, that too is a guessing game. Again, it all goes back the manner in which the dogs lived prior to coming into rescue. I suggest you invest in some belly bands now simply to help you thru teh housebreaking process and to keep you from becoming totally frustrated with housebreaking efforts. Cresties can be notoriously hard to housebreak.

As for food, skin care, etc., search our archives you'll find loads of information. I HIGHLY recommend you put this baby on a premium diet, one that contains no byproducts, fillers and, preferably, no grains. Get him a couple of nice, comfy, soft beds...though he'll most likely prefer your bed and your lap.

Good luck and feel free to email me privately anytime (crestiersq@gmail.com)
