This may be OT except it's of interest to notebook users & I discovered it using my wonderful Transmonde ;> ...
Has anyone else noticed this? Win98 can boot even when its entire partition is above the 1024 cyl "boundary." Setup won't let you put it there to start with, so you must install low then move hi w/ PQMagic.
Being able to put Win98 part anywhere on the disk is handy for dual or multiple boot systems having only 1 HD, notebooks for example. If you install W2k next, NTLDR finds the Win98, no prob. (BootMagic refuses & I think so does linux lilo.) BTW, W2k and BeOS setups both LET you install hi, but then can't boot, go fig...
I am still looking for a boot manager that can handle the > 1024 boot partition (like NTLDR can) and also recognizes and starts linux and BeOS, and W2k and Win98.

NTLDR is missing ( I have installed a new harddisk on a "notebook" laptop. Now I get the message NTLDNR is missing. What is there to do about it?Hansen, Stig L.04:28:27 05/11/00 Thu
