When my CMOS battery went dead, I got exactly these same error messages. It is because the BIOS lost the settings defining what kind of floppy and hard drives were installed in the computer.

When you boot, press or or whatever it is you have to press to go into the BIOS. Check to see if "1.44 MB floppy drive" is selected. If not, select it. You should then be able to boot from a floppy. You can also tell the BIOS to "autoselect" your hard drive. You should then be able to boot your computer as long as you don't turn the power off. Until you get a new CMOS battery, you'll just have to leave it on or keep resetting the floppy and harddrive settings in the BIOS.

Of course, everything I said assumes that the problem is actually with the CMOS battery. It could be something else!

Good luck,
Shane
