Thanks for the reply, I still have the error. Here is
what I have done so far.
0. I changed within setup to suspend to RAM. It did get
rid of the error msg when I boot up.
1. I created a partition (hidden, non-DOS) using Partition
Magic 4.0.
2. I booted up using the Power util. disk and ran
"0vmakfil -p 260". It came back with an error said
"Another partition present" (this is expected)
2. I booted up again using the Power Util. disk and ran
fdisk (large disk support = Y)
- option 4 (show status) showed the non-DOS partition.
- I deleted the non-Dos partition. at this point I have
287 M of free space before C. Fdisk did not show
the free space after the delete. But it did show
disk 1 is 95% full. Presumbly the other 5% is the
free space before.
- I quited out of fdisk, changed the year to 1999 and
type "0vmakfil -p260"
- Error came back said "Something Went Wrong"
3. I tried "0vmakfil -p132", same error.
4. Repeat 3 after changing within setup to suspend to
disk. Same error.
When I ran 0vmakfil -?, I noticed the copyright notice
was dated back to 1995, I wonder if I have a old version
(I bought my Vibrant LS Apr 1999)?
From your comment, it looks like you have done the same
thing I did (and succeeded). Did I miss a step? Surely
there must be a lot of people out there have added RAM
to their machine.
I also wonder if I could get more info from SystemSoft's
website, do you know what their website is?
BTW, I did get through to transmodesos. I did not find
any information describing my problem. It did mention
something about running 0vmakfil after adding RAM, and
the files in SystemSoft's website are old, though.
