You are partially correct. ASE Technologies (USA) and ASE USA are two different companies, both owned by the same. ASE Technologies (USA) has been around since 1995 assembly notebook computers for other vendors. IBM Thinkpad 365 series and Epson ActionNotes were the biggest customers. There were internal discussions to create a website for ASE Technologies (USA) for over two years, but it was never a priority.

As far as management knowing Transmonde was going to close is hard to say since the manangement of Transmonde and ASE were not the same.
