Subject: Come to Fredricksburg, TX and enjoy PARADISE!!

We just got back from our mini-tour of the Hill Country and boy, are we converts! The weather was superb with only a sticky hint of humidity and recent rains were keeping the heat tolerable, even pleasant.
1. We swam with dinosaur footyprints in Glen Rose; sadly we didn't manage to investigate the Creation Science Museum there,
2. watched the dog demonstrate Urban Stupidity in her inability to percieve a 'possum striding confidently about ten feet behind her,
3. dined on edible flowers at the Fred-burg Herb Garden, 4. enjoyed fireworks from about the length of a football field at the Lady Bird J. State Park,
5. counted fish that we could see clear to the bottom as we tubed down the Medina for five hours,
6. got chased by (and rescued from certain drowning) an idiotic Chihuahua which plunged into said river to attack our German Shepherd whilst she -- for once -- sat peaceful and bemused in her "doggy tube" (after slogging through the underbrush and grit to return said puppy, its owners yawned and said she did that all the time),
7. discovered there are espresso shops manned by rude, tattooed, 90-lb 19-yr-old hippie wannabes even in tiny Bandera, TX,
8. taught Nicky a valuable lesson about the importance of letting us know he's feeling sick before upchucking all over the duffle bags (I earned the valuable comment "That's sick!" from John -- if you knew him, you'd know what a score that is from someone like him -- when I decided to preserve the moment in a picture rather than scream and cry and retch myself).

Nature was our friend there. Except for some strange thing in the bushes that interrupted Minnie's midafternoon pee and sent her into a storm of barking and snarling that caused a bunch of little kids to scream and cry and nearly gave their ancient abuela<-i> an early ticket to the Arms of Our Lady. Needless to say, we didn't investigate. Monnie didn't even want to go further...wonder what it was?

Really, SM, I urge you to take the fam there if you have the cash to spare. Feed 'em rice for a week but find a way to get them away from Evil Cali. Even the athsma might settle down. Perhaps Austin might have employment opportunities. I do know they're opening a TTU branch in Fredricksburg which will be a 4-yr outfit with focus on practical, vocational type stuff. Ever thought of teaching in a business department?
