In reply to: manette--- I know I'm easy 's message, "I am amazed by the ‘sturm and drang’ this episode has caused. I thought it was lighthearted fun with a dash of pouty Harm thrown in for good measure. I may be the only one but I thought it was funny" on 23:50:12 11/28/02 Thu

Bravo Manette, I didnt even see Jag this week as trashing Harm.I think some fans over-react too much. (NT) -- Gretchen, 13:12:10 11/14/02 Thu

I'm with you, Manette. I kind of like it when Harm gets to be a little human here--and I totally agree that he would have had his nose (cutie that it is!) VERY much out of joint by Mac getting the bench first. INSIDE -- CM>^.,.^<, 04:58:46 11/15/02 Fri

Yeah, poetic lcense for sure. :) Given the premise of these Folks, I just wish they would do H & M "going at each other" over legal strategies. Seeing them put their minds vs their emotions against each other. I just don't like to see these two senior Folks at each other for "silly" reasons. Just MHO. (NT) -- Techie51, 09:41:41 11/15/02 Fri

Hey Manette - yes, you have a point. I guess it boils down to what motivates a viewer to watch JAG. I am a news junkie and the only two other shows I watch are JAG and Law & Order. I come form a military background and my dh is a lawyer. I watch JAG as within the "environment" they have created, they do deal with relevant issues and treat the military with respect. I'm sure I am in the minority of their viewer types. Any comedy intended was overshawdowed as I was disappointed to see a how I usually like go this route. Just my viewpoint. (NT) -- Techie51, 13:19:39 11/14/02 Thu

Very good Manette! I thought it was a fun, light-hearted ep - enjoyable, but not very deep (though I suppose some people would disagree) (NT) -- CaveWoman, 13:19:59 11/14/02 Thu

You're not the only one! I've been wondering why, if they hate it so much, some posters are still watching the show - and why on earth come to the boards, just to state their dislike? I know we all have an opinion and have the right to state our views. I got some beefs like most everyone else, but if I found the ENTIRE show so distasteful, I'd find something more pleasurable to do with my time. I dang sure wouldn't come here or to any other JAG-fan type site. (NT) -- Carrotts, 13:20:05 11/14/02 Thu

Oh YES YES YES!!!! ITA ITA. What a great post. I was beginning to think that maybe the episode was "worse" than I thought, but thank you, Manette, for reminding me that I DID like it. It DID make me laugh (several times). And, hey, IT'S TV! And what a great summary of all Harm's GREAT MOMENTS. (NT) -- AmyLynn, Chicago Chic Chick - who tapes the ep so I can pause everytime Harm looks at me, er, that is, I mean, when he looks at the camera, 13:25:05 11/14/02 Thu

ITA Manette-- inside 663 letters and I can't think of any to cut -- Jen, 13:30:58 11/14/02 Thu

Oh manette, I'm suffused with embarrassment and guilt. I've become a bitter complaining poster lately...sigh. Where is my sense of humour? I guess what worries me so much is that the lack of personal story lines may just turn off too many viewers, and then it wouldn't matter if we liked the show or not. I have never thought Harm was a jerk, but I want to see him laughing, loving, and having fun. INSIDE -- Cece going back into my hat now....LOL., 14:04:05 11/14/02 Thu

Cece-- (inside) -- manette, 14:18:03 11/14/02 Thu
Well said, manette. I agree with everything you said and you said it much better than I could. ::applauding:: (NT) -- KatRuse, 13:36:09 11/14/02 Thu

I see a big difference in being critical of an ep and trashing it (or any charcter therein). And I watch the half hour sitcoms when I want broad humor. I'm sorry -- I don't find anything amusing in a 40 yr. old man who is supposedly a professional doing all that Harm did in the last ep. I see it's comedic aspects ... but I expect the Tiner/Gunny-like moments in JAG-A-Thon to supply the humor in JAG .... and Meredith and "he learned to play left-handed" ....... but not the principle character behaving like a petulant child. (NT) -- MichelleB ( I, for one, just didn't see the ep as any kind of humorous look at the two main characters. I rather doubt that that WAS what it was supposed to be. But that's just me.), 14:19:39 11/14/02 Thu

I'm with ya, Michelle - (NT) -- Techie51, 14:24:30 11/14/02 Thu

I have to say (well of I have to ...lol) that I didn't find Harm and Mac funny in this episode. But I do love those almost hidden lines of AJ's and Merediths...lol. And yes, there is a huge difference between critical analysis and trashing. I know manette isn't saying otherwise. I'm just hoping that I haven't gone over the line recently, either here, or at Maeve's. Maybe I have...sigh. (NT) -- Cece..waiving good morning to everyone, 14:37:07 11/14/02 Thu

oh sure cec....screw up again why don't ya...lol. (NT) -- ., 14:38:21 11/14/02 Thu

LOL! And while Cece was just having, she was just ITALICIZING too! LOL! (NT) -- MichelleB, 14:45:12 11/14/02 Thu

Cece, you haven't been "over the line" at all. Trust Me. I know from Over the Line as I ususally live there!! (NT) -- Techie51, 14:49:40 11/14/02 Thu

Michelle- I am just pointing out that what you found annoying I find amusing. As some people find the Bud story inspiring I find it tedious. Doesn't mean I'm right -- As Techie said we all watch the show from our own personal perspectives and while in real life I don't like petulance or jealousy or any of the 7 deadly sins in my mate-- I can revel in the tension and humor they add to a TV show. (NT) -- manette, 14:49:51 11/14/02 Thu

And (as my grandfather used to say) that's why they make chocolate and vanilla! Different people have different tastes! I suppose what just rubbed me a bit the wrong way was that I was "hearing" not ONLY what you liked and what you found amusing and your surprise that so many others didn't see it that way .... but that there was also something "not right" about not seeing it that way. Which you have now explained is NOT what you intended. Great! (NT) -- MichelleB, 15:09:02 11/14/02 Thu

I am never surprised and I certainly don't mind when people don't see things the same way I do-- My surprise was that in after watching Jag all these years I can usually tell when I am watching an episode whether there will be a big reaction on the boards-- I have to say I didn't see it coming this time. (NT) -- manette, 15:20:48 11/14/02 Thu
That's interesting. Becasue once harm did the first eye-0rolling reaction to one of Mac's rulings, I knew that there was going to be a lot of "Oh for heaven's sake! Why continually have Harm act like a twit"! One time when *I* was surprised by the serious negative reaction? When Bud lost his leg. I htought it was depicted very well and so VERY many others were highly upset at the whole notion AND how it was shown. Just shows that TPTB can NOT ever please us all! I feel for them! LOLOLOL!!!!! (NT) -- MichelleB, 15:36:00 11/14/02 Thu

dont worry Cece, like you and many others,Im trying to be optimistic for Jag too even when its really hard for me.There are so many things Im not happy with but then Ive resigned myself that this is not our show.Total bummer.I rant about Jag with my friends and family offline.LOLOLOLOL- on my list is the H&M saga ofcourse,Bud, etc.......LOLOL- (NT) -- Gretchen -hang in there everyone, 14:35:46 11/14/02 Thu

Ditto re: sturm und drang over the 11/12/02 JAG episode. UST, judgeship, courtroom behaviors and "leaving it at the office" certainly brings out the creative writing of the HBers. Hey, just as long as I get to eyeball OFC every Tuesday at 2000, CBS. It's all there! (NT) -- Xena, 15:57:49 11/14/02 Thu

Let me say I love Harm, but some of you have to see that what many of us saw in Harm this past week was what some have seen in him for quit some time and why he may not be their favorite character. I've been afraid to come here the past week or two because of some of the comments regarding Bud and his stump. I know an amputee and I was a little taken aback by some of the comments I saw posted here. And as for Bud taking over the show, I bet he had not more than 5 minutes or so of airtime this past week. I'm enjoying that storyline, but I am happy it looks like he'll be back at JAG soon. (NT) -- Shygirl, 16:01:06 11/14/02 Thu

First of all, don't ever be afraid to post here Shygirl. We are a friendly group. Second, most of us are well aware that Harm isn't eveyone's favourite character and we know the reasons they give. That is why we started the HB; so that those of us who love Harm could post without annoying the socks off everyone else, and so we wouldn't have to listen to posters saying what a jerk he is. But we remain aware, and we don't like TPTB making a great character look bad for no apparent reason. INSIDE -- Cece, 16:38:35 11/14/02 Thu

I think they're doing an excellent job of depicting Bud's challenges as a new amputee. And I too have, at times, found some of the references to Bud's stump to be indicating just what you describe --- queasiness -- and I've often wodered what an amputee reading those kinds of posts would think. I'm sorry -- but I think it's ONE thing to go on in a funny, silly way about NOT wanting to see Bud & Harriet "do it" under WHATEVER circumstances ...... but the overt disgust and queasiness over Bud's injury is something else. Something that can certainly be construed as deragotory towards amputees. (NT) -- MichelleB, 16:56:51 11/14/02 Thu

Michelle, I understand. But actually, I am neither disgusted about nor queasy over the stump. I am queasy about see Bud sexual, even before his accident. I think it's because he is like the kid brother, cute and funny...or at least that is how he was for a number of eps. As I said before, I don't want to see real people at it..just my fantasy people. I'm not disgusted by any of the portrayals, just annoyed they spend so much time panning in on the injury. We would never want to stair at someone's real stump...and I'm sure they wouldn't want us to. That is really TOO personal. (NT) -- Cece. I LIKED the storyline. Thought it was gutsy at first., 17:45:16 11/14/02 Thu
I meant STARE not STAIR. That wasn't a clever play on words...lol. Just a typo. (NT) -- Cece, 17:48:07 11/14/02 Thu

Hey! You are talking to the QUEEN of typos here! LOL! And yes --- watching Bud get it on would be rather like watching your baby brother "do it"! Eeeewwwww! LOLOLOL!!!!! And you know --- I don't like to see my fantasy GUYS do it with anyone either. I mean, it rather ruins MY little fantasies when I see whoever getting "up close & personal" with some gorgeous whoever! ...... inside ......... -- MichelleB, 19:05:22 11/14/02 Thu

Shygirl, here at the Harmy Board everything is colored by our love for the fictional character of Harm. We would never (cough) talk about a man in real life the way we talk about Harm and the same is true if Bud were really an amputee. Some of us just resent the time that has been given to Bud's story. In our Harmcentric world they had the perfect opportunity to do a story about Harm's recovery from his accident last year but they didn't. I don't think it's unreasonable to prefer an indepth ongoing story about the gorgeous star of the show instead of his faithful sidekick.... (NT) -- manette, 16:39:42 11/14/02 Thu

Okay, I can see where in some ways some of our comments about Bud might be misconstrued by some. INSIDE -- Cm>^.,.^<, 05:23:43 11/15/02 Fri

Great response CATMOM. You've said it the best. I'm just hoping that the next stage in the Bud saga will be at least interesting. They've handled the amputee story TOO lightly (this really isn't the show for an in-depth look). They've made it seem that cute women will still respond to a pick-up with no reluctance, and that psychological probs. will disappear as soon as the spouse allows lovemaking. This is far too simplistic. (NT) -- Cece, 17:11:47 11/15/02 Fri

Yes yes yes!!! Oh, I loved this episode!! In all honesty, it was my favorite one of the season. I love Harm, but let's be honest... one of the reasons I love him is because even when he's whiny, he's so CUTE! (NT) -- CQ, 16:59:26 11/14/02 Thu

Manette, you and I are just so darn easy to please! And we see humor in everything. I also liked the episode. I also agree with Xena, I am happy to see our man on Tuesday nights. (NT) -- Shell......naming Manette as the voice of reason for this week, 18:16:21 11/14/02 Thu
