Thank you for stating the case so clearly Lee. Although I've seen nearly all the eps, I've only seen them once with a few exceptions, so I can never figure out what has gone on in the past. I'd love someone to explain an Admiral's Mast to me, for a start. Harm was portrayed as if he were whining, but I also know what it feels like to be passed over knowing I was just as deserving of a promotion, or special assignment. Forgive me for overstepping my bounds here, but oh well LOL! #2, Harm wins b/c that's the way the show is written. So yes, he has the better win/loss % b/c of the this fact. #3, Harm has no serious infractions on his record. Again, b/c the writers have never punished (Admiral's Mast) Harm. Sorry, I do consider Brig Break & shooting up a courtroom *serious* infractions, but these were glossed over. I'm not making excuses for Mac, cause GOD knows she's messed up. ITA also with you, Lee. Great post. Everyone always talks about Harm never giving anyone an 'attaboy' which he has. But when does he ever get one? Add to his record two DFCs which I know have nothing to do with his lawyering, but does add to his character. Not too mention Mac is three years younger too. As to the Brig Break. That was orchestrated by Webb and the CIA, the shots in the courtroom is in his record but you don't get an admirals mast from that. I think Harm gets an "attaboy" everytime he's made 1st Chair, or lead Investigator, not to mention he was acting JAG first. AJ trusted him with doing the JAG Budget one year, so I think Harm's abilities have been greated with confidence. We agree to disagree on the Brig Break, nuff said, LOL! I for one dont get into the bash thee Harm or bash thee Mac post because I love them both besides my Webb.I remember the tech.adviser Matt (that retired Marine) said if Jag goes by the book all the time then we wont have a show at all.ITA with him.I think this whole judgeship is no big deal,it was intended for comedy and dramatic waves in Jag.Ofcourse TPTB are still the morons that they are but its good to see H&M come into terms as professionals,as persons and something more for their future relationship.They both did a good job. Yes, we dont hear AJ rave about Harm but deep down AJ knows who's the best,the viewers know that too,even Mac knows she's second best "Heroes"ep.and in "Acts of Terror" Mac told AJ she has her own tricks in her hat against Harm but AJ sarcastically said "sure you do,Major". Lee, your post is eloquent and thought provoking (as usual :-D), but, I've got a slightly different take on it. First of all, Harm may not have an Admiral's Mast (which is like an official/unofficial reprimand, Cece) on his record, but he ain't no saint, either. LOL! He's been accused of murder and staged his own brig break (People v. Rabb), disobeyed A.J.'s orders (From Russia, With Love, et al), been investigated for slandering the President of the United States (Contempuous Words) and. . .(Darn Voy!) Haven't there been times where different officers mentioned Harm's colorful record? AJ even mentioned it looked like a cross between Top Gun and A Few Good Men at the beginning.
