"here, put these on over your shorts and grab your helmet so we can ride. they should fit you, they're Maggie's but she's not allowed to ride until her cast comes off" Jessie puts on her chaps and grabs her helmet off the table, then grabs 2 cans of soda and hands one to Kylee. they walk down to the barn, drinking their sodas and talking. "Who would you like to ride?" Jessie asks, "You can ride Dun, Rose, Barnum, or Bailey. poor Heaven is still lame and Mom won't let us take out the stallions unless she comes with us." Jessie tells her. "I'll ride Dun. i've seen Hannah ride him and he looks fun" Kylee says excitedly "Ok, then i'll take Rose, she's doing much better, we'll be able to canter if we don't tell my mom" Jessie whispers. They walk to the barn and take out saddles, bridles and brushes before taking the ponies from their stalls, grooming them and tacking them up. "Mom, we're leaving now" Jessie calls to Saddle, who is helping Hannah get Heaven's hurt leg in the ice boot. "Remember, no cantering, no jumping and be careful!" Saddle calls. Hannah pops her head out of the stall door in time to see Kylee riding Dun. she frowns but then hurries back to finish getting the boot on Heaven's leg. They mount up and walk down between the paddocks lazily. once they enter the woods they break into a trot and soon a canter. "Are you sure we won't get caught?" Kylee asks. "yeah, i've done this before, Rose is very well behaved, she just likes to..." Jessie's words are cut short by a bucking spell. she leans back and pulls the mare's head up. "Knock it of!" she growls at the bucking mare. Rose finally settles into a smooth canter. "Like i was saying before, she likes to buck, but she hasn't thrown me yet" Jessie says. Rose throws in one more buck just to prove her point before returning to a smooth canter. "Is that one of your cross-country jumps?" Kylee asks, looking at the water jump. "Yeah, thats the best jump of all for this kind of weather, we call it the big splash cuz you get soaked if you jump into it. its about an 18" drop and a 2" jump back up if you wanna try it" Jessie tells her. "Sure! it sounds fun!" Kylee exclaims, bumping Dun into a hand gallop to the jump. he hesitates for a moment, then springs into the water. a huge wave soaks both horse and rider as they land in the foot of water and hop back out. Kylee circles Dun until he slows to a walk to wait for Jessie and Rose to come through. Rose balks going into the jump and Jessie turns her in a circle, smacks her with her whip and heads her to the jump again. this time at the takeoff point she gives the stubborn mare another whack and the mare hops into the water, then hops out, dripping wet. Jessie laughs as the pony shakes the extra water off. "We better walk back slowly so Mom doesn't see the ponies all wet" Jessie says. "yeah, good idea" Kylee replies. when they finally arrive at the barn the girls, ponies and saddles are completely dry. "How was your ride?" Mikki assk. "Great!" Jessie replies. Mikki helps them untack and brush down the ponies, then they go up to the house and play Riding Star on Jessie's computer with Hannah and Maggie for a little while before Saddle calls "Kylee, your mom is here to get you" Kylee sighs and Jessie walks her down the stairs, helps her find her book bag and her sneakers and walks with her to the car. "Don't forget, we're having our loft sleepover this friday and our party Saturday!" Jessie whispers to Kylee as Saddle and Alana talk. "That was a great ride! we need to do this more" Kylee says.
