Date Posted: 19:57:07 06/17/02 Mon *"Mommy, when will you lounge me on Dun?" 3 year old Michelle asks. "Well, lets tack him up and i'll help you right now" Saddle tells her. "YAY!!!!" Michelle exclaims. Saddle helps her brush and tack up the 14hh pony, because she couldn't reach all the way up to his back. Then Saddle helps Michelle put on her helmet and grabs a lounge line. Michelle leads Dun to the indoor flatwork ring and Saddle helps her mount, then runs the lounge line through Dun's bit. "Ok, Michelle, ask Dun to walk with your legs" Saddle tells her. Michelle kicks Dun and the pony moves into a slow, gentle walk. Soon Michelle kicks him into a jog and the pony moves steadily, trying not to unseat his little rider. after a few minutes of trotting, Michelle pulls back on the reins and Dun obediently walks. "I wanna go the other way, Mommy" Michelle says. Saddle nods and changes the lounge line to the other side so Michelle can work in the other direction. The little girl walks and jogs for a little while. "Would you like to lope?" Saddle asks. "Yes!!!" Michelle exclaims excitedly. "Ok, kick him with your outside leg" Saddle tells her. Michelle kicks him hard with her outside leg and he moves into a slow, smooth lope. "Michelle, SIT UP!" Saddle calls as Michelle leans down in saddle, ready to tip foward. Michelle corrects her position and smiles, rocking to the horse's easy gait. after a few strides Saddle slows Dun back to a walk and allows Michelle to walk him out on her own. then Michelle helps hose him off and turns him out.* [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
