What is it that Carolyn Sullivan said in the VH1 show when describing rollermania..?? ...."It's like Herpes....lies dormant for years and then resurfaces?" Haha...

I haven't listened to any roller stuff for probably a couple of years, and then from nowhere decided "what the heck" and bought the live Budokan CD the other day.

Wow, what a nice treat that was. For those of us who never had the opportunity to see them live, our chance to live vicariously (sp??) through the screams of others...and - what a charge that must've been for those there.

And even songs that I was never enormously crazy about (Love Fever comes to mind) - sounds so cool live...great guitar.

And my husband simply shakes his head "Oh no...not AGAIN with the roller stuff...."

Happy summer everyone,

Mary

I thought this was an excellent CD too. It's funny because I never liked Eagles Fly -- thought it sounded very weak on the LP, but I love the version on the live CD. It's really a great CD all around. (NT)lori00:25:22 06/29/03 Sun
Well Mary F., thanks to you I pulled my Budokan cd outta the moth balls and played it again. (I think I only listened to it once when I first got it.) But it sounds GOOOOODDD in that new stereo I got in my car for my birthday. Thanks, Mary! (NT)Becky20:24:21 07/01/03 Tue
My favorite part of this CD is that it's just the guys. No studio fine-tuning, no overdubs, just the band on stage performing live to a screaming crowd. Even when they don't quite hit the right note, you've got to smile. It's been awhile since I listened to it. Now I'm going to have to pull it out and pop it in the CD player! Good point, Leila. I think my favorite from this CD is "Wouldn't you Like It?" Hearing Eric absolutely screaming in the backround is such a hoot! What energy! I had read an article not long ago on one of the original producers of the band (help me out here...phil wainman maybe???) And he'd made the comment about how the band's music changed after they'd "gone to the U.S." with the "over-produced" sound...you know, big symphonies in the backround and such. In comparing, I really love the sound you describe...just the guys themselves. (NT)mary f.09:54:56 07/07/03 Mon
What was up with the full orchestra anyway?! I'm listening to Dance Dance Dance from Rollerworld now. Loving the guitar work... And 'Don't Let the Music Die' can still make me cry. (NT)Leila08:49:43 07/10/03 Thu
