Subject: I remember reading something about how tv shows would not allow bands to play "live" back then, except for the Midnight Special, which is why the Rollers and other bands loved going on that show. If I remember right, overseas they were made to record new versions of the same song so it would appear as if they were really singing. Anyone else have more info? I could be remembering this wrong.

I was always under the belief that the studio technology just wasn't available back then. I don't think the BCR were unique in lip synching on those shows. What I liked most about all those talk shows were the stupid stunts/games/ etc. that the hosts always had them doing (mike & merv in particular). Who remembers the beach obstacle course , or the floor hockey? And didn't they make Chip Buddies w/ Dinah? I can hear the producers now "Yeah Joe, get those BCR guys to jump on a trampoline....PURE GENIUS!" (NT)mary f.14:17:34 10/25/03 Sat
I know, Mary!! Those were always my favorite parts of the show, too. I remember "Kids Are People Too" where they had the Rollers being flipped by a female karate expert. Eric got back in line again for more, didn't he? LOL (NT)Becky21:14:01 10/25/03 Sat
