Aw, baby, you're too cruel, *he mutters, grinning crookedly at her. He slowly swings his legs over the side of the bed and rises, holding his arm in front of him. He walks over to her and stops in front of her, only inches away. He stares down into her eyes and his heart beats a wild rhythm in his chest.* I--I-- *He tries to say something and fails, desperately searching for some sign that she could understand him. He rests both his hands lightly on her shoulders and stiffens, waiting to be rejected, and trying to crush the tiny flame of hope that flickered in his heart.*
