Yes, the war in Iraq has upset me somewhat as well, and significantly more so by the SARS thing.

From what I see in HK, most people would like Bush to go to hell, period. He is definitely the biggest murderer on earth these days who controls the biggest army on earth, USA is the country with most weapon of mass destruction on earth, how come nobody have the guts to move him ? And then I found it hard to believe that the US army seemed to be welcome by local people in Bagdad....

But then all these are just a little too remote for us here comparing to SARS. Just yesterday a new record 9 people died, one was a pregnant woman whose baby was taken out on 1 April which weighted only 3lb something. This poor woman was survived by her husband, a 6 year-old daughter and this 3lb little baby, how sad. The Ribavirin is not as effective as it was thought. The ICUs in some hospitals has quadrupled their size to cope with more and more patients in need..... Well sometimes you know it's getting too much for us to swallow.....

Yeah! Talking about Iraq and SARS. The Communist China is a bit like Iraq. A dictator type of country. Chinese communists especially love to spread the good news and hide the bad news - we all know that SARS was originated there and thousands have died! The figures they published are just a fraction of the real horror. I am not a visionary but I saw and knew that HK would be going downhill after 1997 as far back as 1990 - the benefits of a Chinese living in the UK for many years. HK as a colony was unique to say the least but HK as China SAR is just another piece of land as far as Beijing is concerned. Why can't they develop Shanghai or another port but HK instead? People in HK are not used to dictatorship rules. SO the answer is YES they can and is gradually abandoning HK. The situation of HK will be worse I tell you. As to the future of North America - same fate will apply. One massive problem is an aging population of baby boomers and so productivities will drop. Although globalization will help somewhat but old people mean a constant burden and strain on social benefits. Even worse the population that replaces the aging boomers are the baby busters i.e. a small workforce. It goes on. We have studied so much about history, be it oriental or western civilization, the unique thing is: dynasties came and gone, empires came and disppeared. I believe we are heading into an interesting period...

Back to SARS - My clients who return from the far east are very good to me they will volunteer to qurantine 10 days before they see me for their financial things (give me business!). Everyone is quite scared and many have infected in Toronto. Vancouver is OK so far only with about 3 deaths and a handful of confirmed cases. Seattle where my brother lives also has SARS cases! The stuff is universal. The sacry thing is ISN"T THERE A CURE! A firm from Vancouver has mapped out the virus and all we need is a treatment. Dr. Cheng - Is it true that all virus all untreatable? Michael Cheung Ming Chee (Wah Yan 1978) is a friend of mine and he has been picked to treat patient at either QE or QM and he has sent all his familiy to the UK to live just now. I do realise how serious this is!
