Andrew Id be interested in your methods for selecting, testing and finally training your dogs? You criticize the guy saying he lies about testing dogs? How are you testing yours? I'm testing two of his right now. Im staying on topic which is dogs I dont have a beef with you but I do with what you say. I have had some really good dogs and real shitters. Nerve bags to stone cold good solid dogs. I know of what I speak when evaluating a dog. I wanted a solid working dog PERIOD,proper drives and thresholds to do bite work and function as a companion ( a tough order to fill with any breed as I am sure you are aware in spite of what most of the boerboel breeder websites say.)After plowing through breeders seeking a dog I was given a reference to Harris from a respectable dog man. I agreed to test the dogs in a working capacity to include bite work. I dont give a marshrats ass about a "proper top line" a black mask, appraisal scores or any of that other conformation Bullshit. When Im testing the dog its for temperament, drives, nerve, desire to work, handler focus etc. Im not your everyday boerboel buyer who wants a couch buddy. The dog will be tested with increasing pressure as we move forward. Performance, form, function. Now lets get to the facts as they really are.

Heres What I got:
male (first breeding for sire) 13 months old high drive, nice hunt drive, a bit to much prey drive for a boerboel (but I asked for it up front), excellent ball drive, really good nerve and good movement for a dog his size and age. Strong in the work but lacks really good focus and clear head at this age. finished with foundation and phase 1 obedience and working into phase II. Hard fast entry on the decoy in prey drive. Not mature enough to test his fight drive. Nice defense but I have only looked at a flash of it at this age. Has good recall but needs work. Handler focus is improving with age still young. Overall at this point I am happy with him. Fairly social dog but aloof when in a different environment other than his own. He has been exposed to different environments I chose some to apply pressure appropriate for his age and he did good. Showed quick recovery when stressed. Still a puppy!

Female of different line. Shes big but has really good movement more of the mastiff type than the male. Nice proportion. Blew through foundation and phase I obedience and temperament is solid. Been working her on the rag and shows good overall drive. Clear head even when pressured impressive focus for a dog her age. Have not spent the training time with her I have the male. She was from a nice litter with a pretty good ratio of nice working dogs. She is solid and accepting to welcome visitors but aloof.

Neither dog shows dog aggression at this stage but I expect the male due to his drive and dominate temperament to display male/male aggression in time. It is welcome if he does not.

Two pretty good dogs with good potential who are exactly what I asked for.

So Andrew your claim of not testing dogs is incorrect. Now if you want to criticize me feel free to do that. But honestly its like water off a ducks back. I have other breeds as well among them are some really nice PPD dogs that I am proud to own and work. Am I mistaken? Didnt Harris produce one or more of the few titled Sch dogs in the breed? I will be titling another one this year. Granted they are BH titles but thats a heck of a lot more than what I have seen from 99% of the boerboel breeders. I dont confine myself to one breed of working dogs. The fact is that the molloser dogs simply do not have the same level of interest as the herders for doing sport work for good reason. But there are venues for the big dogs. Harris dogs have proven to be capable of attaining a level of control found only in a few dogs of the breed. Titles do not make a breeder but they do demonstrate outwardly that the dog is capable of control and has the drive to work. ALL breeders are going to throw shitters (if you say you do not I will differ) especially from this breed. I give credit to Harris for trying to get to a better dog.

So in the end all the shit slinging in the world wont change the fact its all about the dogs. So the talk should stop and end with the dogs. You claim you had a number of dogs wash out. But you didnt say what the breeder did about it? Most experienced dog people would never have that many dogs wash out because they would change lines, breeders etc.

If these dogs are falling apart like you say. Where the hell are they? I researched these dogs pretty well to include speaking to a number of folks who had experience with Harris. I couldn't find a negative report. Now criticism of the breed as a whole is easy to find amongst working dog folks because of the state of the breed.

I look forward to your answer.
