Subject: Boerboels and Gunfire

I took my 2 Boerboels to the shooting range at the State Game Lands around the corner from where I live to see how they would react to the gunfire. My 2-year-old female had already been proofed with gunfire, but I had not had an opportunity until this weekend to proof the new puppy. Jaf is 8 months old. As you can see from the video, both dogs were completely relaxed with the heavy gunfire that was going on around them. They even got to meet a stranger who came over to ask questions about the dogs.

Please excuse the quality of the video. I was handling both dogs by myself, and I had both leashes in one hand and the video camera in the other. Then I was trying to hold a conversation with a stranger while doing all of this. Needless to say, I had my hands full!

Jaf (Quo Vadis Barracuda) is 8 months old, and he was bred by Jenny Wells of Quo Vadis Boerboels. The Irish-marked brindle, Power's Legendary Azaan, is 2 years old, and she was bred by Tom Power. Thanks to Jenny and Tom for 2 very environmentally stable BB's!

Both dogs are just starting training in Schutzhund, and Azaan will be competing this weekend in Rally Advanced obedience. I am also aiming Jaf towards some obedience trials this Summer. The training is fun and very rewarding. The dogs are my constant companion on my farm in Pennsylvania.

Sharon
