I have always amazed at the number of Border Collies catching frizbees at the park...a good pastime for city folk and city dogs I guess, hardly touches on the capability in the breeds potential, but they do make damn good frizbee catchers...should these people become breeders to produce the finest park amusement dogs? They have. After a few generations will the offspring still be capable of performing at the breeds true calling? No. Who cares? I likewise know many great Gloden Retrievers that have never seen a duck, many Rat Terriers who have never killed a Rat, most Bloodhounds have never worked a trail, and most Dalmations never chased a Fire truck. Who cares? Still people want to breed them, and low, others want to BUY them. If you do not have a farm, your Boerboel biz is still in good shape...people won't care.

If one wants to decide that sport alone can determine proper temperament and is the breed suitability test, or if one would determine that by virtue of the majority of interested buyers NOT having farm work to test at, then farm work is not the best evaluation of the breed, then step up and get started. May be you know best.

In an earlier post I made a comment about the majority of sport people that contacted me had zero experience with breeding, and very little exposure to the Boerboel breed...perhaps that description does not include this group of posters at all...if enough breeding experience is coupled with enough understanding of this breed or the Mastiff breeds, then all my arguments go by the way...I would be interested to know, just how much expertise do each of you bring to the table? Who am I making my argument to? Perhaps I should listen and learn.

How many of you have breed Boerboels for ten or more years? How many of you have any breeding experience in other breeds or even mastiff-types? How many of you consider yourself a trainer; How many pro's or former pro's? How many are active and competitive at your sport? How many of you have bred your sport dogs to sport dogs and can show me I have nothing to worry about...put my mind at ease...

David
