Another one from the same book, which I find I haven't wholly remembered, nearly thirty years later

JOHN MCCORMACK

His diction and phrasing were fine beyond praising
His timbre a purist's delight
But the critical clique said his acting was weak
And he knew in his heart they were right
So forsaking the stage he became all the rage
As a very high-class balladeer
His repertoire rich with a mixture of kitsch
And the gems of his opera career
?
?
?
?

One of the missing lines complains that in JMCs recital career he was "a trifle two-faced" in his approach...but can anyone fill me in on the actual lines?
Or remind me who wrote the thing?
