having trouble figuring out hip jack rafters, any easy solutions , im going through alot of wood

Frame the center ridge and rafters first then build the hip rafters to that. That way you won't have to free span your hip rafters into the air tying in the rafters off the wall to the hip. What are you doing now? I don't understand how you are constantly coming up with boards that don't work. Cut them long and cut the bottoms off later after you have them set while standing on the wall. I like doing it this way because you can chalk a line down all the rafters cutting them off even.
